David A. McKibbin Of Counsel

David A. McKibbin, of-counsel to Marshall Socarras Grant, P.L., is an AV Rated Preeminent (by Martindale-Hubbell) transactional business attorney with over 30 years experience in all facets of commercial business law including, corporate and partnership matters with particular experience in the real estate industry, equine law, the hotel/hospitality industry and in the banking industry.

Mr. McKibbin’s real estate practice includes drafting condominium and timeshare documents, preparing retail and office leases, representing clients before regulatory bodies, and advising clients on sales, acquisitions, and refinancing of properties, and within the hotel/hospitality industry he has had extensive interaction with national franchisers on behalf of local and regional franchisees.  His specialized knowledge of equine law encompasses partnership agreements for racing stables and breeding farms, stallion syndicate agreements, insurance settlement agreements, loan documentation for lending institutions, and appearances before regulatory agencies and legislative committees. Notably, Mr. McKibbin has provided legal representaion to numerous breeding and stallion farms, as well as racing stables, in Florida, Kentucky, and New York. He also has represented  national thoroughbred organizations such as Breeder’s Cup Ltd and Fasig Tipton, Inc., and he is a frequent speaker at equine law seminars and conferences.

Mr. McKibbin attended Hofstra University, where he obtained his B.A. in Economics, and he obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law.  He is admitted to the Florida Bar and is a member of the Sports and Entertainment Law and Animal Law Sections of the Florida Bar.

Served as Florida counsel to Breeders' Cup, Ltd. when that organization staged it's World Championship event(s) at Gulfstream Park in Florida.

Served as general counsel to Century 21 Regional (South Florida), Inc., the sub-franchisor of over 200 Century 21 real estate offices in South Florida.

Served as Florida counsel to Fasig-Tipton, Inc., a national thoroughbred auction company.

Represented Seaside National Bank and Trust, as lender's counsel in aircraft and yacht financing.

Represented SunTrust Bank (Miami Beach region) as lender's counsel in numerous commercial real estate transactions.

Represented the seller of the highly successful thoroughbred stallion, Medaglia D'Oro to Sheikh Mohammed's Darley America's Kentucky stallion farm.

Represented the Doral Park Homeowners Association, a residential development surrounding a Doral Country Club golf course facility.

Represents the developer of Bel Lago, a 600-acre equine themed residential development in Ocala, Florida.

Served as general counsel to the prior owners of the Plantation Fashion Mall, a 250,000 square foot retail facility in Broward County, Florida.

Served (in excess of 15 years) as general counsel to a Florida based family owned company that owned and operated approximately 20 hotels in Florida and Puerto Rico, including responsibility for all acquisitions, sales and refinancing of the company's hotel properties.
